Villages
The architectural heritage is one of the trademarks of the Hérault Valley. In our villages some of the most diverse treasures of medieval architecture are hidden away. Main-street villages, “circulades” (circular villages), rectangular villages, former fortified market towns: the whole area is dotted with such fascinating jewels of invention.
Every period from ancient times onwards has added its own style and fashion to the buildings. These medieval giants have sometimes been destroyed, sometimes reshaped but never let themselves be laid low. In their noble stonework, our villages carry with them the memory of the men who built them and the stubborn will of those who shaped them.
