Art of Living

A region’s heritage is often associated with its monuments, history and landscapes. But too often people tend to forget that it is not something fixed: we must not neglect the importance of the skills and traditions that typify an area.

The soil of the Hérault Valley is a true cradle of traditional arts and cultures, a mixture of modern technology and ancestral skills. That is why, if you really want to know about our area, you have to experience the pleasures of the taste-buds, the arts of the table, the skills of the olive oil and wine producers and the inimitable know-how of those who tirelessly continue the work of their forebears: the potters of Saint-Jean de Fos, for example.

You also need to come and experience for yourself the life and the smells of our southern markets and the annual festivities connected with those totem animals that have protected our villages from time immemorial. That is when the oral tradition inherent in Occitan culture really makes sense. Story-telling, festivals, markets…you must be in the south!
