Garrigues and forest

GarrigueThe garrigue soaks up the atmosphere all summer and literally sets the tone for the winter.

Its greyish-green hue colours the slopes of the majestic mountain, the Séranne, and clings on all the way to the summit of Mont Baudille. It covers the limestone plateaus of Aumelas and Puéchabon, ventures into the mountains of St-Guilhem-le-Désert and runs alongside the Mediterranean forest and into the plain to tease the vines and olive trees.

As for the forest, it never takes off its green coat. Half the trees here are evergreen and the others, although deciduous, always retain a scattering of leaves, with the old ones falling once the new ones have grown.
