Other horizons

Villeneuvette

VilleneuvetteThis formal royal factory, created by Colbert in 1666, manufactured cloth, which was traded with the Ottoman Empire in exchange for spices, paintings and silks.

The factory is a prime example of a workers' estate, combining the means of production and human resources within its walls. The inscription over the entrance is "Honour to work", which sums it up nicely.

Having survived through good times and bad, the factory finally closed its doors in 1954. Guided tours of the charming, shaded site are available for groups.
